The Tiguan lineup begins with the S, available in FWD or 4MOTION® all-wheel drive, featuring a 201-hp 2.0L engine, LED lighting, Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro, IQ.DRIVE®, wireless smartphone integration, and a 12.9-in touchscreen. SE builds on that foundation with perforated V-Tex leatherette seating, a power driver's seat, ambient lighting, remote start, a power liftgate, and an available panoramic sunroof. SE R-Line Black adds a more athletic personality with exclusive R-Line® styling, black exterior accents, 20-in black wheels, an R-Line® interior, illuminated door handles, and a Head-Up Display. New for 2026, the SEL R-Line® Turbo sits at the top of the lineup. It features a more powerful turbocharged engine, standard 4MOTION®, 20-in wheels, premium varenna leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats with massage, heated rear outboard seats, walnut interior trim, a 15-in touchscreen with navigation, Harman Kardon® premium audio, three-zone climate control, and advanced convenience features including Area View and Park Assist Plus.

Most Tiguan models are powered by a 2.0L TSI® 4-cylinder engine producing 201 hp and up to 221 lbs.-ft. of torque on 4MOTION® models, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The new SEL R-Line® Turbo receives a new Evo5 turbocharged 2.0L engine generating 268 hp and 258 lbs.-ft. of torque, delivering stronger acceleration while maintaining Volkswagen's steady driving dynamics. FWD and 4MOTION® configurations are available across most trims, while the SEL R-Line® Turbo comes exclusively with 4MOTION®. Towing capacity reaches up to 1,800 lbs. on properly equipped 4MOTION® models. The Tiguan emphasizes balance over outright aggression.
